Confusion in a Little Girl's Eyes

I live in a little brown house in France
I used to play in the tree in the yard.
The further I climbed,
The closer I came to God.

But Daddy won't let me outside anymore.
Mommy and Daddy act so different now.
I hear Mommy cry at night.

I don't understand why she's so scared.
And why does Daddy hate that we have to
wear the star of David on our arm?

A man told Daddy that we have to move.
We can only bring one bag of stuff with us.
Mommy said we'll get on a train to get to our
new home.

We were put in a big box at the end of the train
with lots of other people.
We've been in the box for days, I'm so hungry!
I'm starting to get scared now!

As soon as we got out of the box they took my Daddy away,
I want him back!

Our new home is nothing like our old home!
I hate it here!

There are mean people here with guns,
They yell at me
and tell me to work harder.
I hate it here!
I want to go home!

Mommy and me are stuck in a big group of people,
We're walking into a dark tunnel.
Mommy's crying real hard now,
She's holding me so tight.
It's so dark in here.
Everyone's so scared,
I'm so afraid.

Mommy says it's okay, baby
Just be brave!
Soon enough we'll be with Daddy!
