~                               ~                                  ~                               ~                       God on high                           Hear my prayer                               In my need                           ~                       You have always been there                         He is young                                 He's afraid                                Let him rest                                   Heaven blessed.                                         Bring him home                                   Bring him home                                   Bring him home.

I sat and held you in silence
for only I was there.

I listened
intently as you poured out your
pain and your sorrow.

I rocked
slowly back and forth praying for
tomorrow.

The tears flowed
onto the floor below,
nothing was held back,
you finally let everything go.

I sat and held you in the still darkness.
You did not know but I could feel your pain.
My voice taken from me, my tears
flooding only my heart.

All I could do was to sit and rock
and hold you as Jesus holds me,
and Hope that you know just how
much He loves me.

If Only

Yesterday I saw you
but only briefly I would say
one moment you were there...
I turned my head you'd gone away

So little and so helpless
I can't recall your name
so clearly I can see the anguish
do you know you're loved the same

But still I see it there
the torment in your face
I longed to reach out and touch you
but was told it wasn't my place

I felt your hurt so deep inside
your tears run down my face
if only I could hold you
if only it was my place

Then again I looked in the mirror
how clearly I see your pain in me
this time I can hold you
this time I know your name.
